Hi,
We have many, many modules in a project, which have varying numbers of views each, which may or may not each have one or more Layout DXL columns.
I want to be able to search the underlying script of these Layout DXL columns for a specific text string.
I can write a script to run through all views in all modules and identify the attribute or otherwise (ie Layout DXL) or each column on each view, but I need to be able to take this to the next level to be able to search the Layout DXL script of a column.
Is this possible ?
TIA

I would guess the answer depends on your layoutDXL: If the columns contain the actual DXL code, then I would proceed as you said, looping through all modules, all views, all columns, getting the code with "dxl(Column col)" and then using "contains", "findPlainText", regular expressions etc. to search for the specific text string.
If, however, the columns contain #include commands, then you can either try to open the files from DXL, read and search them, but then you must be careful if the included files in turn have #include commands, or you just report the location of the files and use e.g. the Windows Search tool to recursively search the files on the disc.

Thanks Peter, that was exactly what I was looking for.
